The plot takes place in 1946 in the United States. The main character is Peggy Carter, an office worker. During the war, she fought alongside Captain America, but now her work at the SSR is limited to boring office work and fetching coffee. Everything changes when inventor Howard Stark asks for her help. A secret government organization believes he is selling his inventions to enemies of the country and they're trying to frame him as a traitor. Peggy Carter will try to prove the man's innocence to her colleagues at the Strategic Scientific Reserve, which will require finding the thief and the stolen Stark's inventions. Meanwhile, Steve Rogers disappears, which greatly upsets Peggy. Eventually, Carter will become one of the founders of the SHIELD agency (a crime-fighting organization in Marvel comics). The investigations in the series last throughout the entire season, so each new part introduces a new storyline.
