The gripping events take place in the year 1966 in the USSR. At the center of the narrative is a respected man named Preobrazhensky, who cannot imagine his existence without medicine. He is a skilled doctor specializing in facial surgery. The character believes that it is definitely possible to transform plain mice into incomparable beauties. The genius is willing to work tirelessly for days and prove his superiority over capable colleagues. Lev Grigorievich is obsessed with the idea of making his beloved Motherland a leader in the field of plastic surgery. He plans to open an institute. Within the walls of the hospital, the doctor intends to help people get rid of minor defects in their appearance. The determined man is acquainted with the young doctor Zorin. Unlike his eccentric comrade, Igor dreams of leaving the USSR and going to a foreign town where his diligence and golden hands will be appreciated. The ambitious guy craves wealth and recognition. Meanwhile, Lev Grigorievich agrees to collaborate with agents from the KGB. In exchange for an experimental department, the specialist promises to perform top-secret operations for the government.
