The beginning of the 1990s. For several years, a cruel maniac operated in the region. And now the criminal is caught and the investigation begins. However, a forensic psychologist Shirokov arrives from the capital. He declares that a completely different person is in the dock, and the real killer is currently walking free. According to Vladimir's tests, the suspect's portrait does not match the psychological profile of the real maniac. The trial postpones the verdict. However, Bragin is dissatisfied with Shirokov's actions - an investigator who spent several years tracking down the maniac. Also, the city's population, which lived in constant fear, stands on his side and can finally breathe calmly. Shirokov and Bragin must cooperate together, although they do not welcome each other's approaches to the case. And it seems that the investigator is confident in his righteousness. But soon a new brutal murder takes place right under the nose of the court. It becomes clear that Shirokov was right. An innocent person is indeed in the dock. But who is terrorizing the region? Now they have to find the real serial killer and catch him.
