The series "Peaky Blinders" from the British TV channel BBC Two debuted on September 12, 2013. The new crime show takes viewers back to the 1920s.
The plot tells the story of a major mafia syndicate that operated in the territory of Birmingham. The gang, led by the Shelby family, was one of the largest groups "protecting" gambling, alcohol, and other businesses in their territory. The distinguishing feature of these gangsters became razor blades sewn into the peaks of their caps, which they often used. Hence the name of the gang "Peaky Blinders."
Everything changes when the gangsters' plans intersect with the government. The Prime Minister of England, Winston Churchill, became interested in the activities of the boys after a theft of strategic property. This coincides with increased interest from law enforcement agencies and intensified pressure from other gangs planning to take the place of the Shelby family.
The entire script of the TV series is based on real events that took place in post-war Britain. Steven Knight's crime drama will not leave anyone indifferent - the show has twisted plot twists, a love story, and an interesting main character, Tommy Shelby, played by actor Cillian Murphy.
