Salem release date

The TV series "Salem" premiered on WGN America on April 20, 2014. This historical fantasy show was created by Brannon Braga and Adam Simon. The plot partially coincides with the events that took place in the 17th century in the city of the same name.

The script unfolds in the city of Salem, Massachusetts. In 1692, power in the city was concentrated in the hands of the Puritans, who began hunting witches in the city. According to the plot of the show, real witches were able to infiltrate the city and even find themselves among the city's leadership. In everyday life, they can hide their true nature from outsiders, so Salem experiences real hysteria and horror. Many people have become victims of the war with supernatural creatures, as they burn everyone at the stake due to paranoia.

The main characters of the series are Mary Sibley and veteran John Alden. Seven years before the start of the plot, they were a couple in love, but John was sent to war. Several months later, Mary found out that she was pregnant with John's child and, in order to avoid becoming a victim of ridicule for having a child out of wedlock, she sacrifices the baby to Satan. After these actions, she becomes a witch. Shortly before Alden's arrival, she marries George Sibley, believing that John will not return from the war...
