Britannia release date

The premiere of the TV series "Britannia" is scheduled for the beginning of 2018 and will be released on Amazon and Sky TV broadcast channels.

The unconquered shores of Britain have long attracted the attention of the Roman ruler Julius Caesar, but obtaining such strategically significant territories proved to be difficult. Starting a military campaign against the Britons, Caesar was unable to finish it. The conquest lasted for a whole century, becoming a very challenging test for the Roman Empire. The events of the series take place at the beginning of a new era, when Britannia was inhabited by very warrior-like Celtic tribes who were not ready to submit to the rule of foreigners who had come from the distant south. Emperor Tiberius Claudius (Caesar's successor) could not accept the fact that the Britons were so unruly, so attacks and raids on Britain continued year after year, only weakening the Roman Empire itself, diminishing its power and causing division in the already conquered lands. A consul of the Roman Emperor named Lucius Cassius (according to historians, there is a possibility that he was the nephew of Gaius Cassius Longinus - one of the culprits in the death of Julius Caesar) decided to intervene in the ongoing events, as expansion would hardly bring victory to the empire. Cassius joins forces with one of the fiercest opponents of the Romans - a Celtic warrior and leader of one of the tribes (Queen Boudica). This treacherous alliance contributes to one of the largest uprisings during the Roman conquest of the British Isles. During the uprising, Londinium (modern-day London) was captured and many Roman soldiers were killed. However, this stage of the Roman invasion did not end there.
