The TV series "Captive" is based on real events that took place in prisons in different countries around the world - USA, Russia, the Philippines, Somalia, and others. The cast includes real witnesses of these events.

The plot is characterized by the particular nervousness of its stories. The key theme of the series is the difficult situation of people who have become hostages. Each situation is shown in detail from different points of view to immerse the viewer more deeply in the plot and experience the feelings of all the characters. The viewer can experience not only the perspective of the victims or kidnappers but also see everything through the eyes of negotiators - key figures in conflict resolution. All participants are portrayed realistically and impartially, with the use of explicit language emphasizing the severity of the situation. The story begins in a prison in Ohio in 1993. The prisoners staged a riot, and eight prison guards became hostages. The prison guards have to go through a lot, realizing that their lives no longer belong to them - there is no certainty that law enforcement agencies will make concessions to the rioters for the sake of the lives of several prison officials. The situation is at breaking point, time is running out, and a choice has yet to be made. Will the hostages see a new day or will the riot be suppressed at the cost of their lives?
