David Nevins, who is the president of Showtime, during the latest press conference, announced that they have ordered a new comedy series from Jim Carrey.
The famous comedian will serve as executive producer of the series "I'm Dying Up Here" (orig. "I'm Dying Up Here") along with David Flebotte. The director of the project is Jonathan Levine.
The script of the series unfolds in the 1970s. The main characters of the project are comedians who work in the still popular genre of "Stand-up" (performance by one artist in front of a live audience). Together, they try to break into the big stage in Los Angeles to gain fame, glory, and money. But the task turns out to be not so easy, and they cannot cope without the support of loyal friends.
The new show will debut on the Showtime cable channel in the fall of 2016. The main roles were given to Ari Graynor and Melissa Leo. According to the creators of the TV series, the pilot episode is already ready and has been shown in a closed circle, the work remains for the remaining episodes of the first season.
