Netflix will release a series based on Lemony Snicket: 33 misfortunes release date

Lemony Snicket received a sequel in the form of a series from the streaming service Netflix.

The online content service Netflix has announced the start of creating a multi-series version of the movie "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events". The premiere of the full-length film took place in 2004 with quite decent ratings of 7.299 from Kinopoisk and 6.8 from IMDB.

The actor appointed to the main role of Count Olaf is Neil Patrick Harris, also known for his role as Barney Stinson in the TV series "How I Met Your Mother". In the original film, the main antagonist was played by Jim Carrey, so surpassing his acting will be quite problematic. The filming process is being handled by Paramount Television studio.

The show's script will tell the story of the Baudelaire orphans (Klaus, Violet, and Sunny), who are trying to uncover the truth about the death of their parents and encounter Count Olaf, who is eager to steal their inheritance.

The series plot will be based on the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" book series by writer Daniel Handler, which currently consists of 13 books. The same number of episodes has been ordered for the first season of the TV series. The author of the books will work alongside the show's screenwriters. The release date for the new project has not been announced yet, and filming has not yet begun.
