On January 16, 2016, Russian viewers began watching Alexander Daruga's new project "Meteorit" (Meteorite). The film, broadcast on NTV channel, explores the difficulties of service as an ordinary detective, Leonid Zharov, who was sent to the tiny town of Belorechensk due to the increasing number of missing persons cases in the settlement.

The operative learns that all the residents of the district associate the tragedies with the recent fall of a meteorite, as it was from that day forward that people started disappearing. Zharov, a natural-born skeptic, fundamentally does not believe in miracles and extraterrestrial beings, wanting to find a logical explanation for everything. The interviews with witnesses and the collection of evidence did not yield any results - the Moscow guest did not find either of them. And the ufologist who arrived after him only confuses the situation further, claiming the presence of signs of extraterrestrial presence. Since the policeman heard about the direct contact between the professor and the extraterrestrial beings, the operative avoids the company of the eccentric man. However, the key character finds an ally - a local witch named Alena, who claims to have had contact with all the missing persons. From her, Zharov learns about the sectarians who have settled in the depths of the forest. Together, they set off in search of the victims.
