The events of the detective series "Podkidish" take place during the New Economic Policy, in the mid-1920s. A thief known as Podkidish escapes from Novgorod to Leningrad. He owes money to the bandits, so he is forced to hide in another city. At his new location, the swindler is mistaken for another person. The thing is, the local chief of the criminal investigation department looks very similar to him. Now the police officers mistake him for their colleague who was recently appointed as a detective. He is given an identification card. At first, he does not want to have any unnecessary contact with law enforcement agencies again, but then he realizes that the red ID allows him to commit theft. First, he needs to come up with a plan, under what pretext to infiltrate the city warehouse where evidence (valuables, weapons) and belongings confiscated from the people are stored. If he manages to carry out the scheme, then he can finally deal with his debts and other problems, and leave to live happily in another country. However, there is a danger of revealing his identity and being pursued not only by the bandits but also by the Leningrad police.
