Olga works as an employee at a museum in a small provincial town. Just four years ago, the girl experienced a terrible blow of fate, her one-year-old daughter Julia disappeared without a trace. Olga and her spouse named Igor are extremely devastated by this tragedy. Igor found a strange and cynical way to console his grief, he started cheating on his wife. Crushed by all these events, Olga immerses herself in work. The police, having no leads, inform that the case is closed. The husband suggests that the girl come to terms with the terrible truth, but only Olga believes that their daughter is alive. One ordinary working day, Olga meets a visitor at the museum where she works. A passionate romance begins between Yevgeny and Olga. Someone envious informs Igor about this, and in a fit of rage, he brutally rapes his wife. In a state of shock, the girl leaves for Moscow to Yevgeny, but there awaits her a new disappointment. The man is happy in his marriage and has children, and their affair with Olga is just another easy intrigue for him. During a difficult and unpleasant conversation between Olga and Yevgeny, the man loses control of the car, and the former lovers get into an accident. Yevgeny dies on the spot, and Olga, coming to her senses, finds out that she is pregnant.
