Since 2015, the TV channel Fox has been airing a mystical thriller called "Wayward Pines," based on the eponymous novel by Blake Crouch. The pilot episode was directed by M. Night Shyamalan, who also served as the producer for the first season. Matt Dillon was invited to play the main role.

The actor portrayed a secret service agent named Ethan Burke. His colleagues and superiors speak highly of the hero's abilities, which is why he was given an important mission. He must find two federal agents who are listed as missing. To fulfill this mission, Ethan goes to the remote town of Wayward Pines. Arriving in the town where the investigation should take place, Ethan is ready to start working. However, he realizes that there are many obstacles in his way that hinder the investigation. Every step the hero takes raises new questions. In his search for answers, the hero wanders blindfolded. Ethan realizes that strange events are happening around him. Now he must figure out the causes of these events and find those responsible. However, the search for the truth may put his life at risk. Is it worth seeking the truth if it comes at such a high price? The hero's concerns are justified, as he managed to find the body of one of his missing colleagues. Judging by the marks left on the body, the deceased was brutally tortured.
