The Russian sci-fi series "Chernobyl: Zone of Alienation" started in the fall of 2014. The plot tells the story of a group of teenagers who were robbed during a party. In order to get their money back, they follow the audacious thief (Podcaster) who went on a journey to the mysterious abandoned city of Chernobyl. However, the adventure turned into a struggle for survival when the group crossed the 30-kilometer Zone contaminated by radiation.

In the United States, chaos reigns. The closer Pavel Vershinin gets to the reactor, the more wild bandits he encounters along the way who are hunting for adventurers' heads. The group of friends in an empty plane try to reach Maryland. A US Air Force fighter jet requests their landing, or else will fire for termination. In order not to waste time, Nikita takes a risk and does not obey the instructions of the "Disunited" states government, for which their airliner's engines come under fire. They manage to avoid a serious crash by chance and land the plane in the desert. Four Mexican bandits nearby witness their emergency landing and without hesitation, they head towards the crash site. But it seems they were not prepared for such a reception. Pasha, Gosh, and Nastya end up in prison after being noticed by a local police officer. Their friends set out to rescue them. Finally, they will be able to use a time travel device...
The main characters of the show are Pavel (Kostya Davydov), Alexey (Sergey Romanovich), Gosh (Anvar Khalilulaev), Nastya (Lera Dmitrieva), and Anya (Kristina Kazinskaya). Some of the actors from the first season will not appear in the new episodes of the series. Additionally, in order to save the budget, during the filming in the US, the project director Anders Banke hired local actors.
The second season of the series "Chernobyl: Zone of Alienation" will consist of eight episodes, which will be shown in early 2017. The idea for creating this show belongs to Ilya Kulikov. Initially, "Chernobyl: Zone of Alienation" was aired on the TNT channel, but in mid-2016, after a change in management, the project was moved to TV-3.
