The team of directors consisting of Edward Bazalgette, Stephen Hopkins, and Robert Lieberman decided to release a quite bold film about two famous personalities who have to join forces and skills in the search for real criminals, who are stirring up the public with their actions. The viewers of the ITV channel saw the first series of the project on March 13, 2016.

The tandem of the virtuoso illusionist Harry Houdini and the talented master of the written word, Arthur Conan Doyle, promised an unconventional approach to investigation and a very original course of events. The magician adheres to the position of a hardened skeptic in matters of mysticism; he has repeatedly demonstrated to the public meticulously planned and flawlessly executed miracles, and in each case he tries to find a perfectly logical explanation for the appearance of the supernatural. The detective writer is a deeply believing person in all sorts of poltergeists, and he intends to convince his partner otherwise. The famous men face a difficult task - to investigate several criminal episodes, using their professional skills in their work. Criminal London at the beginning of the 20th century gives them a wonderful opportunity to try themselves in an unfamiliar role.
