In November 2017, a new series called "Walking on Thorns" was released on television screens. The series, based on the work of Alexei Tolstoy, was directed by Konstantin Khudyakov. The project was filmed in St. Petersburg, Moscow, and other cities in Russia.

The plot of the series "Walking on Thorns" takes place in St. Petersburg in 1914. Two sisters, Ekaterina and Daria Bulavina, can literally sense the upcoming changes. They do not yet know that the radical changes in their destiny, as well as the life of the whole country, will be brought not by a pleasant event, but by a horrifying war, followed shortly after by a revolution. Right now, the girls are striving to actively participate in the city's social life. The reason why the sisters suddenly became interested in the world and broadened their horizons was love. The young girls dream of a happy future with the same guy - the decadent poet Alexey Bessonov. The guy greatly changes the lives of the girls, but it is unknown whom he will prefer, and whether he will choose between them at all. Concerns about their personal lives take a backseat after the start of the First World War. The measured existence of Katya and Dasha's family has come to an end, but both of them still have hope that their lives will return to their former course. The girls do not yet realize that soon they will have to come to terms with the fact that they will never be the same as before.
