The plot is based on the story of Kevin Gable, a police officer who recently retired. He hopes that from now on he will be able to afford a carefree life surrounded by his family. However, reality surprises him by revealing that dealing with problems within his own home is much more difficult than solving crimes he used to investigate. It turns out that Donna, his wife, had been hiding important information about their children from him for the 20 years he worked overtime. Because of this, Kevin constantly finds himself in absurd situations. At first, his eldest daughter announced that she would drop out of school to spend more time with her boyfriend, and the caring father found the only right solution to let the unemployed young man live in their house. The middle teenage daughter, Sarah, has anger management issues, and the youngest son, Jack, also has some problems. In addition to tackling these challenging tasks, which are part of his retirement plans, Kevin interacts with his partner, Duffy, and colleague, Goody, who are also retired.
