In the end of March 2016, on the Channel One, and earlier in January on the TRK "Ukraine" channel, a romantic drama "Stairway to Heaven" started. The plot is an adaptation of the South Korean melodrama of the same name, released in 2003 on SBS.

The script of the series is a modern interpretation of Romeo and Juliet's love story with an expanded history. The main characters are Artem and Anna, who grew up together. Besides being neighbors, the children were united by a common tragedy: Artem's father died in a car accident shortly after Anna's mother passed away. Childhood innocent friendship, along with the children's growth, turns into a strong and first love. For a long time, the couple could not be separated and saw each other daily, but soon Artem leaves to study abroad. Meanwhile, changes occur in the Viazemsky family - Anna's father marries for the second time to his new lover, Avdotya Makarova. Along with her, Avdotya's children from her first marriage, Tristan and Isolde, move to live in their estate. The new step-sister envies Artem and Anna's relationship, so she tries her best to ruin it and take away the girl's fiancé, who will soon inherit a multimillion-dollar business empire. In these endeavors, Avdotya will help her daughter, who is seriously determined to ruin the young Anna's life, while playing the innocent victim in front of her father.
