In late October 2007, the detective series "Liquidation" was released on the Rossiya channel. The series was filmed with the support of the Central Partnership Studio.

The script of the TV show is based on real events. The plot tells the story of life in post-war Odessa in 1946. Soviet Premier Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin sends Marshal Zhukov, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, into retirement. The military officer is sent to command the Odessa District in Ukraine. Seeing the dire situation in the city after the war, as well as the rampant activities of bandits who are former saboteurs, Zhukov plans to carry out a thorough purge. Taking advantage of the country's dreadful condition after the Great Patriotic War, the criminals steal food and equipment from military warehouses. During a special operation, the intelligence officers captured the leader of the gang, Senka Shaloy. According to him, they were acting under the leadership of a person nicknamed "Academician".
