The streaming service "Amazon" presented a pilot version of the project in 2015 and then a full-length series in 2017. The ironic film, filled with black humor, tells a spy story about a person willing to go to any tricks to achieve their goal.

The abbreviation "NOP" stands for the term "Non-Official Cover", which in reality is the work of a spy under the guise of a contractor in a large private company with minimal government protection. Such an agent is CIA officer John Tavner, using the alias John Lakeman. It's the year 2012. The spy's task is to pass a challenging interview in Milwaukee in order to become a technology engineer at the international company "MacMillan". The engineering firm is involved in oil infrastructure, and the richest enterprise attracts the best professionals. John encounters an Asian competitor, a true specialist, which forces him to eliminate the rival. John always acts practically and skillfully. A year ago, he was already involved in intelligence work to prevent the development of nuclear weapons in Iran. On his last mission, he faced difficulties and had to heal his wounds in Amsterdam, losing the opportunity to return to the US to his family. The only source of entertainment became smoking weed, which inspired him to create songs about classified data. Worried about his son's useless existence, his father, the director of intelligence, finds a new assignment for him to save him.
