Channel NTV and First Baltic are preparing the premiere of the series "Chasing the Past" in spring 2016. The detective multi-series show was created by the "Forward-Film" studio.

A young girl, Varvara Zhuravleva, becomes a victim of violence. Initially, she gives up her medical education after this incident and joins the local police in order to seek justice against her abuser. After receiving her uniform, thanks to her strength of spirit and analytical mind, she quickly achieves success in the service and attains a significant rank. While investigating another murder of a young girl, Investigator Zhuravleva gets the impression that a whole group of people, some of whom are even in power, are behind a series of brutal crimes motivated by money. The killer's tracks lead her to witnesses who are about to testify against the members of the group, but soon these witnesses are killed. The actions of Captain Zhuravleva greatly disturb the culprits who are being considered as suspects during the investigation, and soon Varvara's relatives receive anonymous threats. However, the investigator does not want to stop the intense criminal case, as she is already getting close to the person who was the catalyst for Varvara's decision to join the police force in the past. Soon, Varvara Zhuravleva learns the name of her abuser and decides to confront the whole group of maniacs alone and put them all in prison.
