An intense series by director Evgeny Sologalov and his colleague Dmitry Matov has been released on the NTV channel. The key character of the film is a young employee of the capital police department who is forced to quit his job to go to the Rostov region to search for his missing comrade and faithful friend. His wife Katya accompanies the investigator.

Upon arriving in the small town of Stepnye Kurgany, the couple is immediately met with a rather suspicious attitude towards guests. In the area, commonly accepted laws have long been forgotten. The provincial settlement is ruled by an influential clan of gangsters under the control of the Volkovs couple. All competitors have long been eliminated by these powerful fraudsters, and the police officers have been bribed. These schemers skillfully take advantage of their hometown's favorable location near a major highway that connects the south of the country with the capital. Hundreds of cars with various cargo pass by them every day, and drivers have to share with local criminals in order to safely leave the corrupt settlement. The Volkovs fear the actions of the investigator from the capital, so they try in every way possible to make the Dymov family leave the territory.
