At the end of autumn 2015, the final 8th episode of the first season of the TV series "The Last Kingdom" airs on BBC America.
The historical drama has gained a huge number of fans, as the plot twists are just as unpredictable as they were in Bernard Cornwell's books.
Will there be a second season?
The ratings of the TV show from the first season allow the creators of the adaptation to continue the filming process and beyond. Moreover, the author of the books provided material for more than 10 new seasons, as nine books from his series "The Saxon Chronicles" have been released by 2015.
In the new episodes of the series "The Last Kingdom," Uhtred will continue to fight for his place in England. Despite being raised by Vikings, he decides to betray them and side with his blood relatives. But the war becomes very bloody, and not only soldiers, but also kings, lords, and other high-ranking individuals start to die on the battlefield.
The filming process of the series will continue in spring 2016, and they will try to finish the post-production of the new season on BBC America by the middle of the same year. Like the previous part, the second season will consist of only 8 episodes.
