A representative of the film studio Masterpiece Theatre has revealed that the second season of the TV show "The Miniaturist" will take place in the first half of 2019.
The leadership of the channel "BBC One" aired the final episode of the first season closer to the end of 2017. The mini-series is based on the eponymous work, written by Jessie Burton.

The action takes place in Amsterdam. The year is 1686. Charming lady named Nella leaves the tiny village. She plans to settle down firmly in the big city, where her newlywed husband lives. Johannes is involved in business and because of his job he often has to be away from home. The young wife has to stay in a giant mansion in the company of silent maidservants. The merchant was worried about how his beloved spends her free time. He gave her an interesting gift in the form of a miniature house. It was an exact copy of the apartment where the married couple settled. The main heroine gets acquainted with the closest relatives of her partner. She tries to establish contact with her stubborn sister, Brandt. The woman has a gloomy and unsociable character, so she is not in a hurry to get close to the newcomer. Soon the charming hostess of the premises learns the shocking truth about the other inhabitants. Each of them has a terrible secret that they carefully hide from the public.
The key roles were played by: Anya Taylor-Joy, who starred in the films "Glass" and "Split", Haley Squires, noticed in the films "The Party" and "Blood Cells", Alex Hassell, who appeared in the films "Suburbicon" and "All Is True", and other actors.
The premiere screening started on December 26, 2017. 2 episodes were filmed. The frightened beauty makes desperate attempts to solve the terrible puzzles of the huge house and its residents.
