The series tackles a very difficult and taboo theme for most people - child abduction and the use of violence against them. It is also worth noting that the film's plot is presented in two lines: memories from the past and events happening in the present. Such a narrative style makes the series less drawn-out and contrived, which is already a guarantee of its popularity.

A married couple from the United Kingdom, traveling through France during the final part of the world football championship, gets stuck in a quiet and modest town in the French province due to a minor car breakdown. During the celebrations of the national team's victory, their son Oliver mysteriously disappears. All efforts to find the boy yield almost no meaningful results, and the man tries to figure out the mysterious circumstances of his child's abduction on his own, but also cannot shed light on this nightmare situation. After some time, Emily leaves her husband and quickly remarries, appearing completely content with life and completely forgetting about their child's disappearance. But Tony Hughes is not ready to give up the search for Oliver. He uses the services of a French private detective, and together they discover that the boy is still alive. This gives the father new strength to confront the cruelty of the present world and reclaim his son from slavery.
