The plot of the first season of this crime detective was focused on the Pakistani student Nazir Khan, who after a night of partying finds himself in prison, accused of murdering a girl. Since he can't remember anything, he does not believe his guilt. The detective and his lawyer unraveled this difficult case over the course of eight episodes to save him from imprisonment. In theory, this storyline is over and the second season of the show will have a new main character. It is possible that the lawyer and the police officers will remain the same, but a complete restructuring of the script, as was done in "True Detective," is also possible.

The series "The Night Of" premiered on HBO on June 24, 2016. In Russia, the show was presented by "Amediatheca" on July 11 of the same year. The first part consisted of 8 episodes, each lasting about an hour. In IMDB, the show received an enormous audience rating of 8.8 and quickly made it into the top 50 best mini-series.
