The Shannara Chronicles release date

The MTV channel plans to launch the fantasy series "The Shannara Chronicles" on the air by 2016. The whole story of the series is based on Terry Brooks' book series with a similar name. Many have already called them an imitation of "The Lord of the Rings", so let's see what the TV show will be like.

The screenplay takes us to the distant future, where due to the "Great War" in the 21st century, a large part of the planet has been destroyed. Nuclear bombing and chemical weapons have turned people into mutants who hide in caves.

North America was divided into "four lands": the northern land populated by trolls, the southern land with humans, the western land with elves, and the eastern land with dwarves. Between them all is the Tower of Paranor, where the most powerful magicians of the universe and druids live.

Humans and elves existed before the "Great War," while the race of dwarves and trolls appeared due to mutations from radiation.

The main characters of the series will be dwarves who will try to save the planet from total destruction. They have learned a secret that will lead them to all four parts of the remaining Earth.

The first season of the show consists of only ten episodes, but the creators promise that each episode will be as good as a part of a full-length movie! The best actors have been invited for filming, and an hangar with an imaginary world of incredible scale has been built. The series "The Shannara Chronicles" will likely premiere in spring 2016.
