Fans of English writer Neil Gaiman are eagerly anticipating another adaptation of his work. The production of "American Gods" started five years ago, but the project had a long string of bad luck. Two years ago, it was announced that the premiere of the pilot episode would take place next year. The series was entrusted to be broadcasted by the Starz channel.

The main character of the fantasy drama series is a man named Shadow. His past is burdened with a series of events that led him to prison. After serving the required sentence and being released, he is full of hope for a peaceful life ahead. The man is determined to enjoy every day spent with his beloved wife, whom he deeply loves. He also intends to stay away from any troubles. However, his plans are not meant to come true, as his beloved wife dies under tragic circumstances. Shadow boards a plane to accompany his deceased wife on her final journey. The strange man named Mr. Wednesday occupies the neighboring seat. The mysterious stranger knows everything about Shadow. In the conversation with the main character, he tells him about the inevitability of a great storm in which Shadow will be drawn into. The war between the gods of the past and the rulers of the future has begun.
