The political drama "House of Cards" appeared on Netflix on February 1, 2013. The show is an American adaptation of the same-named books by Michael Dobbs and the BBC miniseries.

The actions of the TV series unfold in the capital of the USA - Washington. The main character is a member of the Democratic Party and Congressman Frank Underwood. In exchange for the promise of the position of Secretary of State of the United States, he helps candidate Garrett Walker win the elections for the post of President of the country. But the newly elected head of state fails to keep his promise and appoints someone else to the aforementioned position in the government. This impudence infuriates Frank, and he and his wife Claire start planning revenge against the president. Their first step is to reveal the dark secrets of Garrett Walker and his entourage to the public through journalist Barnes from "The Washington Herald" newspaper. Gathering a team of loyal people, Frank will attempt to overthrow the current president of America and, consequently, take his place. But on his way to the top of power, he will have to commit many immoral acts that delicately border on the country's existing legislation. In addition, the viewer will uncover what really happens behind the scenes of the work of congressmen and politicians around the world, as their actions often extend beyond the White House.
