The detective series "Sherlock" is an adaptation of the books by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, whose works are rightly considered classics of Victorian literature. The show was created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, who had previously adapted "Jekyll" (based on the story "Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde") and one of the episodes of the English show "Doctor Who" called "The Unquiet Dead" (based on the books of Charles Dickens). The fourth season will consist of 4 episodes, the first of which, titled "The Abominable Bride", was shown on January 1, 2016 and is considered a special episode.

Even before the premiere, it became known that the 2nd episode of the new season of Sherlock would be released under the title "The Lying Detective". As analysts promise, in this episode, Holmes will fight the criminal Smith Culverton (actor Toby Jones) in a deadly confrontation. Part of this storyline has already been shown in the premiere trailer - there the villain threatens the detective with retribution. A loyal assistant and friend, Doctor Watson, will help Holmes emerge victorious from this fight.
