A coastal town in South India becomes a refuge for those who want to cure various diseases. Ruby Walker arrives at the local hospital. Initially, she worked in the National British Healthcare. But as part of her practice, she was sent to India. She assumes it's paradise, where she can sunbathe, swim in the sea, and sleep under palm trees. But here, she has a real job at an old hospital. The specific staff and the clientele surprise the American doctor. But she needs to get used to the new environment in order to continue her work. The only colleague from her homeland is the chief doctor, Lydia. Senior doctor Ram and surgeon Gabriel, who is notorious for his restless character. The first shift already presents its difficulties. A girl with a difficult pregnancy successfully gives birth. But two brothers with stab wounds die in Ruby's arms. Walker almost quits the hospital, but Lydia convinces her that it's not the doctor's fault. In addition, Ruby arranges her personal life with Greg, who constantly leaves and returns to her.
