The premiere of the British TV series "The Living and the Dead" took place on June 28, 2016. The creators chose the picturesque English town of Bristol for filming.

The events unfold at the end of the 19th century. A happy married couple, who recently tied the knot, unexpectedly inherits a huge plot of land with a farm in a settlement called Somerset. They are extremely excited about the prospects of moving to a quieter and more peaceful place, where hostile tribes don't rise up against each other at every step, and the local population leads a measured, unremarkable life.

The newlyweds sincerely believe that they will be able to find common ground with the indigenous people and successfully overcome any difficulties that may arise along the way. Despite their lack of experience in running a farm, they are determined and eager to work hard. The main characters hope to rebuild their small business from ruins and do everything necessary for it. However, their plans are shattered when supernatural forces stand in the way of their desired enrichment. The Applesbys begin to notice the presence of a mysterious spirit of an unfamiliar girl in their house, who does not want to leave the premises, causing the new tenants a lot of inconvenience and problems.
