The series "The Strain" from the FX Fearless channel is based on a series of books written jointly by horror master Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. The first episode was shown in the summer of 2014.

The plot of the series unfolds from the mysterious landing of a Boeing 747 at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. All passengers on board are dead, but soon they begin to come to life as Strigoi (something like a hybrid of zombies and vampires). A terrible epidemic begins in the city, which Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and his colleague Nora Martinez try to stop. Digging up the truth, the scientists learn that the cause of the mysterious illness is synthetic - a parasite worm that inhabits humans, controlled by a certain Master, an ancient vampire who has decided to take over the city. To do this, he found a money bag named Eldritch Palmer, who bribed everyone in power. Therefore, the government allows the disease to spread throughout Manhattan at first, making people obedient puppets of Yusef Sardu. The invasion on the island becomes a global problem for the United States, as the entire territory is in blockade...

Each season of the series contains 13 episodes, each lasting up to 40 minutes. The show, as acknowledged by the project's director Carlton Cuse, is planned for 4 seasons.
