The American drama series "When Calls the Heart" is broadcast on the "Hallmark Channel". Public buildings and residential areas were specially constructed for filming near the Canadian city of Vancouver.

From childhood, Elizabeth was surrounded by the attention and care of loving parents, who were among the wealthiest and most influential members of society. She grew up in a luxurious mansion and had the opportunity to socialize in the highest social circles. One day, the young woman decides to end her idle and privileged life and move to a small remote town called Coal Valley, where her aunt previously lived. The woman left her niece unique handwritten records that opened her eyes to interesting family secrets. The main heroine becomes a rural schoolteacher and gradually gets to know the local residents. Most citizens are forced to earn a living through hard physical labor. Many of them work in a mine where a recent accident occurred. As a result of the collapse, several men were injured and some of them did not survive. Their partners lost their breadwinners and their last savings went towards the funerals of the deceased. The girl sincerely sympathizes with the victims of the tragedy and tries to help them overcome the difficulties they face.
